Daphne Read teaches and does research in the areas of creative non-fiction; documentary nonfiction and social justice; women’s writing; trauma and narrative; and popular culture.  Broadly speaking, her interests fall within feminist cultural studies.  In an earlier life she edited The Great War and Canadian Society: An Oral History and worked in a small feminist publishing collective.  She has also published articles on Oprah’s Book Club, feminist culture, Nadine Gordimer, and pedagogy.  She is currently completing a book on Oprah Winfrey.
